Best time to visit Baltal Valley Sonamarg

The best time to visit  is from April to September. With the onset of the summer season, the temperature remains warm and ideal for outdoor activities like trekking, and camping. the famous Amarnath Yatra also commences from July to August, so this is the peak season for visitors for a pilgrimage to the Amarnath shrine.

However, the road to Baltal remains closed for six months in a year due to snow and unpredictable weather conditions.

How to reach Baltal valley

You can reach Baltal only by road as there are no direct rail or airways connected to this valley.

From Srinagar- Baltal is situated about 100 kms away from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. You can book a taxi or a bus or private shared vehicle from Srinagar to reach Baltal and it will take 3-4 hours to reach the valley.

From Pahalgam- baltal is located approximately 140 km to the south of Pahalgam. The most suitable way to reach Baltal from Pahalgam is by road. You can hire a taxi from Pahalgam which will take 4 to 5 hours to reach Baltal.

From Jammu- the distance between Jammu and Baltal valley is about 300 kilometers. To reach Baltal from Jammu, you can take a taxi or a private cab which will take 8 to 10 hours to reach your destination.

However, during the season of Amarnath Yatra, bus services and helicopter services are provided by the government from Srinagar to Baltal for ease of pilgrims.

Helicopter services operate from Srinagar which take devoted to Baltal who prefer aerial transportation.
