Mamleshwar temple is one of the oldest and most significant temples in the Kashmir valley in Pahalgam town. The temple was built in the 12th century by Hindu king Jayasimha of the Lohara dynasty, who decorated the temple with a golden Kalash on top. It is one of the most fascinating monuments of Pahalgam.

Situated at Mamal, Mamleshwar temple Pahalgam, which lies a mile from Pahalgam along the banks of the Lidder River, is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is named after Lord Shiva, who was called Mamalishwara.  Thousands of devotees are attracted to the temple to worship Lord Shiva yearly.

Mamleshwar temple is also known as Mammal temple. According to Hindu tales, Lord Ganesha was placed as a doorkeeper to guard this temple, and hence, the temple got its name Mammal, which translates to mam-don't, and mal–go.

The temple features two magnificent Nandi idols.  The mammal temple encloses Shiva Lingam and a plinth with a pure water stream covered by a basin.

By airport- You can reach the temple directly by booking a cab or bus from Srinagar International airport which is the nearest air route to Pahalgam.

By railway- The nearest railway station to Pahalgam is Jammu Tawi station about 255 km away. Once you reach Srinagar, you can then reach Pahalgam by taxi or cab. After that, you can visit the temple through cab or pony ride.
